1. Venues are shared across every artist. Each one has its own page with details, name history, and every show played there.
2. ## Finding a venue
Anywhere a show or event asks for a venue, start typing. Search matches the current name, former names, aliases, city, and state. If a result matched on an old name, it says so: (formerly The Fillmore) or (also known as The Fill). Private venues show a padlock. Closed venues don't appear in the picker.
3. ## Adding a venue
Type the name in the picker and click Add Venue at the bottom of the list.
Use the Google Maps lookup at the top to fill the address.
Name, address, city, state, zip, and country are required.
Type, capacity, aliases, and coordinates are optional. Coordinates put the venue on the map.
Check Private to [artist] for a private residence or a one-off location. Only people with access to that artist will see it.
A venue you leave shared is visible to everyone and starts as Unverified until an admin reviews it. Venues created during a show import work the same way.
4. ## The venue page
Click a venue name anywhere to open it. The page shows:
Address, type, capacity, coordinates with an Open in Maps link, and aliases.
Name history, if the venue has been renamed, with the dates each name applied.
Shows played there, most recent first, across every artist you can access, with the venue name as it was on the date of each show.
Shared venues can only be edited by admins. If something's wrong, ask an admin or create a private venue for your artist. Private venues can be edited by anyone who can edit that artist's shows.
5. ## Renaming a venue
Click Rename in the page header and choose:
Venue was renamed. Enter the date the new name took effect. The old name stays in history, and shows before that date keep showing it.
Fix a typo. The name is corrected everywhere with no history entry.
6. ## Merging duplicates
If two records are the same place, click Merge into another on the one that should go away, pick the survivor, and confirm. The dialog lists exactly what moves: shows, events, files, merch settlements, and import items. Nothing is deleted. The old name becomes an alias on the survivor so it still turns up in search.
Merging can't be undone. A shared venue can't be merged into a private one, and private venues from different artists can't be merged with each other. Merges involving a shared venue are admin-only.
7. ## For admins
Admin → Venues has three tabs.
Review queue lists unverified shared venues. Verify them one at a time or in bulk, make one private to a specific artist, or close it.
Duplicates groups shared venues with the same name and city. Pick a survivor and merge, or merge all groups at once. Bulk merges keep the venue with the most shows.
All venues for everything else.
Making a venue private is refused if another artist already has shows there.
